My first clear memory of an animal involves a lost horse, a kitchen, and a bowl of cereal. I was six. My second memory is learning just how hard it is to get a horse out of a kitchen.

Animals have been at the centre of my world ever since.

For fifteen years, I was “Mum” to Mac — a small dog with a huge personality who changed my life in ways I never expected. I photographed him endlessly, not realising at the time I was quietly building a treasure chest of memories I’d one day be deeply grateful for. From wedging himself into the tiniest corner of the couch, to dramatic meltdowns, stolen drumsticks, and an unwavering commitment to stealing tissues from handbags — Mac was equal parts naughty and wonderful, and I loved him for all of it.

That experience shaped how I see animals — and how I photograph them.

Every animal has their own rhythm, personality, and beautifully imperfect nature. They’re not always polished or predictable, and that’s exactly what makes them worth capturing. Random Edge Photography grew from that understanding, and from my love of natural light, movement, and authenticity across both equine and animal photography.

Animals are the quiet comfort and the chaos. They calm storms, spark laughter, and give us a kind of connection that doesn’t ask for anything in return. Photographing them — simply being themselves — is where I’m happiest.

Giving Back

Giving back is a core part of what I do.

I volunteer my time and skills with animal welfare shelters, supporting them through both photography and hands-on care. Through photography, I aim to capture an animal’s true spirit — because sometimes it really is as simple as the right photo helping an animal find their forever home. Alongside that, I’m there for the everyday moments too: clean bedding, good walks, gentle fuss, and the comfort of a cuddle.

There’s something deeply joyful about the wag, the wiggle, the purr, the soft moo, the gentle neigh, or the quiet trot of an animal who knows you’ve come simply to give them kindness, fuss, and attention.

I’m also a proud sponsor of Rosie, a beautiful Clydesdale mare rescued and now cared for by Harmony Reins Animal Haven.

In 2025, I helped save four dogs through the Forever Friends Rescue Ready Sponsorship Program, supporting their rescue, veterinary care, and transition from foster care to a forever home.

Looking ahead, my 2026 goal is to help save a further six animals through the Container Deposit Scheme — raising funds by recycling bottles and cans. It’s a simple way to support both animal welfare and the environment.

I’ve also published my first children’s book, My Name Is Mac, through Vivid Publishing — a story about hope, resilience, and finding where you belong. Half of the printed copies were donated to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, whose mission is to keep children safe from violence.

I believe every animal and every child deserves love, security, and a safe place to call home.
